Game Making with Blocks (Scratch Jr.)
ScratchJr is an app that teaches coding for young children. Kids will learn how to program their own interactive games. Through this process of learning, they will be able to solve problems, create and design their own projects and expresss themselves on the computer. In this course, the instructors will introduce the kids to the world of computer programming and familiarize them with words, concepts and sequencing through coding. They will be able to draw with ScratchJr and will walk through the step-by-step process to create their final project: Crooy Road Game.
Course Details:
Week one and two
o How Computers Works: Introduction to computer programming
o Number in Blocks: assigning action blocks frequency
o Drawing with ScratchJr: Exploring the drawing platform and how to edit character appearance
o Repeating: Looping for efficiency
o Sequencing and Events: arranging code for logical output using multiple events
o Say Block and Message Event: using say block for character speech, sending signal using message events
o Changing Scenes: adding page and scenes to project
o Final Project: Crooy Road Game
