Young Artist: Arts and Crafts Playdate

Introducing Art to your kids at a very young age will definitely spark the creativity in them. Arts and crafts will also improve their fine motor skills as well as improving their hand eye coordination. Through these arts and crafts classes, they will be able to identify shapes, colors and textures, the use of basic materials to create something new and to appreciate their potential to be great in whatever they do in the future. After each arts and crafts, your child will be able to produce their own projects and have fun while making them.

Course Details:

 

A. DRAWING + PAINTING

Session 1: Draw & Paint Faces and Expressions 

Objective: Distinguish and articulate different facial expressions through drawing and painting.

Materials: Paper, Pencil, Paint Set (Watercolor or Poster Paint), Paint brush, Tub of Water, Tissue or Rag

Session 2: Draw & Paint a Flower 

Objective: Learn the different key parts of a flower and create a detailed illustration of it.

Materials (to be prepared by student): Paper, Pencil, Paint Set (Watercolor or Poster Paint), Paint brush, Tub of Water, Tissue or Rag

Session 3: Draw & Paint a Mandala 

Objective: Compose a circular pattern design or a Mandala by putting together various shapes

Materials (to be prepared by student): Paper, Pencil, Paint Set (Watercolor or Poster Paint), Paint brush, Tub of Water, Tissue or Rag, Round plate that fits into paper surface to serve as a guide

Session 4: Draw & Paint an Underwater Scene 

Objective: Create a multi-layer underwater scenery; name and identify different sea creatures

Materials (to be prepared by student) : 3 Pcs of Paper, Pencil, Paint Set (Watercolor or Poster Paint), Paint brush, Tub f Water, Tissue or Rag, Scissors, Glue

B. PAPER CRAFTS

Session 5: Paper Caterpillar

Objective: Cut and fold paper to create a 3-D artwork of a caterpillar on a leaf

Materials: Assorted Colored Paper, Pencil, Scissors, Glue, Colored markers, Hole puncher

Session 6: Paper Pop-up Unicorn

Objective: Cut and fold paper to create a 3-D artwork of a unicorn

Materials: Assorted Colored Paper, Pencil, White paper, Scissors, Glue, Round bottle cap (approx 2 inches diameter)

Objective: Cut and fold paper to create a 3-D artwork of an elephant with a moving trunk

Materials: Assorted Colored Paper, Scissors, Glue, Paper straw, Masking tape

Session 8: Paper Flower Making

Objective: Cut and fold paper to create a 3-D artwork of a flower

Materials: Assorted Colored Paper, Scissors, Glue, Stick (Chopstick, BBQ stick or Popsicle stick, Masking tape / Washi tape

C. CRAFT-BUILDING + UPCYCLING

Session 9: Make a TP Roll Pen Organizer

Objective: Tap into child’s imagination, reuse discarded household items and hand-build a functional item or toy that is perfect for open-ended play

Materials: 2 pcs Cardboard TP Roll, Cardboard base (piece of a box or a folder), Scissors, Glue, Colored Paper, Colored Markers, Optional: Buttons, Googly eyes

Session 10: Make a Paper Plate Wall Hanging

Objective: Tap into child’s imagination, reuse discarded household items and hand-build a functional item or toy that is perfect for open-ended play

Materials: 2 pcs Paper plates, Yarn or any string, Colored paper, Glue, Scissors, Stapler or Paper hole puncher

Session 11: Make Plastic Bottle Maracas

Objective: Tap into child’s imagination, reuse discarded household items and hand-build a functional item or toy that is perfect for open-ended play

Materials: 1-2 pcs empty Plastic Bottles (around 330ml or small enough for child to hold), Uncooked rice, coffee beans or any beans, Colored paper, Glue / Double-sided tape, Scissors, Assorted ribbon / string

Session 12: Make a Shoebox Garden

Objective: Tap into child’s imagination, reuse discarded household items and hand-build a functional item or toy that is perfect for open-ended play

Materials: Unused shoe box, Colored paper, Colored markers or Crayons, Scissors, Glue, Assorted embellishment (buttons, beads, sequins, ribbon, small rocks if accessible),
